For this entertaining production of the musical, The Producers, I had the pleasure to work with LSS Production as the FOH mix engineer. Because rehearsal time was limited all the cues had to be run manually which required a sharp focus and attention throughout every performances.
18 wireless microphones were used for the 20 performers and the score was played by a 12 piece orchestra. One complete with rhythm section, violin, reeds, wind section and percussions, timpanies included! This orchestra had to be separated and be put in 2 different locations, one group in the pit and the other in a building adjacent to the theatre. A carefully design monitoring system made up of cameras, televisions, microphones and aviom mixers had to be deployed to make this possible.
The run went very smoothly and even though Max and Leo tried to create a flop, it was a hit.
